On Thursday 19th June, London’s Sanctum Hotel in Soho hosted an intimate screening of ‘Perfecto: How Dance Music Changed the World.’ A landmark new documentary celebrating 35 years of one of electronic music’s most iconic imprints, it saw industry professionals gather with media and Perfecto family for a special evening.
Recently premiered as part of the debut Cine International Film Festival, the film charts the rise and cultural impact of Paul Oakenfold’s trailblazing Perfecto Records – a label that didn’t just shape the soundtrack of a generation, but helped define the very DNA of global club culture. With new interviews from heavyweights like David Guetta, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim, Armin van Buuren, Pete Tong and Oakenfold himself, the documentary captures Perfecto’s profound influence on the evolution of dance music, from the illegal raves of the late 80’s to the biggest festivals and clubs of today.
“We started off as a small dance label and has dance music grew, we grew with it. We’re still an indie label, with over 10 million records sold” said Paul.
Since its inception in 1989, Perfecto has grown to become a internationally acclaimed brand that includes events, streetwear, a globally syndicated radio show and of course a much loved record label that over the last 35 years has released music from the likes of Paul Oakenfold, David Guetta, Tiësto, Carl Cox, Marc Almond, Pharrell Williams, Grace, , Tori Amos, Ce Ce Peniston, Fabio & Groove Rider, Hernan Cattaneo, Timo Maas, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Ice Cube, Nelly Furtado, and many more.

With guests treated to not only the full screening of the documentary but drinks, snacks and an exclusive DJ set from rising selector and former Perfecto staff member Nancy Noise, it was an evening to remember.
